*Edit: I have redone some parts of the movie. (Essentially, I shortened the bit with the fish. You're welcome Roontie!) Just in case you need to watch it again!
Holy crap! The project is done, and as promised here it is! (Sorry it's a link, but the project ended up being 8m long and it's just too big to embed here. Just right-click and save as.)
Oh, also, I made this poster for the movie-questing group-thing:
(Or if you'd like, you can have your very own poster by clicking here.)
And now that it's finished and whatnot (well, not entirely... I'll rerender it later in time), I guess I'm moving on to other projects. Although I guess those other projects come after the website and the demo reel and the resume and the finding-a-job thing. Damn. I have good ideas in my noggin too. Oh well. I'll try and post more art up when I can. But for now, enjoy the project, and many many thanks to all my voices! You guys definitely made my project!
I can't believe I haven't posted in SOOOO long! I got carried away with school. My project is due next Friday (the 25th) and so I've been a busy-busy working bee. I'm getting a lot of recorded audio done. That's always fun! And, I finally got my first animation really down. The background is still in works, but we'll see.
I finished up some characters. I got the little boy done! I really want to post all this, but I don't think I can until it's all done. But we'll see. I can be crafty some times! I just can't wait for this to come together.
But anyway, without further adieu:
Enjoy!
So my meeting is today with my teacher. This is what she's gonna see; great updates!
So first off: I finally figured out how to end the story! Jump for joy! We had a presentation last week, in which I pitched my idea to students and faculty. It's always a good experience to get the idea out there, even if I was under the weather and not totally motivated that day. So, thanks to a starter idea from Sarah Richard (a hilarious girl), the story will now go as follows:
Ned is a nerdy kid with no friends. He wishes he could talk to animals. A nasty, fat, hairy man-fairy comes to grant his wish. The next morning Ned tries to talk to Frank, his goldfish. Frank can only say, "Bored." He gets confused and goes downstairs to talk to Taco Bell, the chihuahua. Not much better, as Taco Bell on says, "Pee" and "Jump" before peeing all over the floor. He goes back upstairs to Frank, still spewing words of boredom, and is very put out. Then he hears a pecking at his window. A bird is pecking, while wanting nothing more than to "peck at the shiny thing." A cat tries to attack the bird, which flies away screaming, "Fly away!!!" The cat isn't much better. Eventually, Ned runs outside to a cacophony of screaming animals all with the IQ you might expect from an amoeba. In the end, Ned is reduced to a straight-jacketed little boy rocking back and forth in a mental facility. Then a bee buzzes his way in, and turns out to be quite intelligent! He has thoughts! Actual, lucid, legitimate thoughts! And just as Ned is completely amazed, a stupid spider falls out of nowhere and snatches up the only living thing Ned is able of communicating with. It will then end with Ned's screams of mental anguish.
All right! So what's new? Here is a page of sketches and colour studies of what the animals will look like:
(I didn't know how many animals might actually appear in the short, so I just did a whole smattering of animals I liked. If they don't all get used, they can hopefully serve some other purpose later on.) *Also, I can't draw. So have a little patience and understanding.
This is the generic bird character. The only thing that will change on him is colours and patterns to make different birds. The body stays the same. This is a Mynah bird, at the request of my Hawaiian step-mother.
Oh oh oh! I almost forgot! I saw this commercial on TV about a week ago, and I could not help but crack up... then I thought, "Hey! Why am I not making thousands right now???" I think someone got into my head and stole my idea! GRRR! >:F
*Charlotte: For next week, I'd like to get all the animals modeled and textured. If this sounds like too much, then how about half? Or, just the ones I know I will use?*
Hey all! I'm starting a journal to update my progress on my senior thesis project, which currently does not have a title. I'll post images and talk about the project. Sweet, right? Thought it was a good idea. So feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and the like. You know! Enjoy art 'n' stuff. Works in progress. That sort of thing.
Okay, so since this is the first entry, I better explain the project. It's about a kid who's kinda lonely and has no friends. He makes a wish that he can talk to animals, and it is magically granted! Oooooh! (Sounds like a Disney flick, yeah?) But it goes horribly wrong when he finds out that animals don't really have any deep thought like we might think they do. And when he can hear them, it winds up to nothing more than simple words repeated over and over (i.e. Poop. Food. Shiny thing! - You get the idea.) Then, I'm guessing he'll go insane.
(YES. I'm not sure how it ends. Suggestions?)
I'm doing it very stylized. Think... Lucy, Daughter of the Devil. Kind of.
Anyway, it's in the beginning stages. Here's what I have that's showable so far:
And this is Taco Bell, the chihuahua. He's the next on the list of animals. What a cutie!
Anyway, that's what I got so far. I'm almost done with storyboards, so I'll scan those soon and get those up. I have to give a presentation on my project Friday, so maybe I'll post all the stuff for that. I'm working on birds and things too. Oh joy!
But mostly I play Maple Story... :D
So yeah! Tell me what you think! Awesomesauce!
